Fun Things to do

BEACHES

Beaches we keep going back to include Par, Polkerris, Porthpaen, Pentewen, Crantock and Watergate Bay.  There are numerous beautiful beaches around Cornwall, have fun trying them out. They all have restaurants or cafes worth a visit.

TOWNS

We like Mevagissey for its fishing harbour seasidey feel, or for a more yachty atmosphere try Fowey, Padstow or Falmouth.  Truro has the bigger shops, such as Marks and Spencer, but also has regular farmers' markets and the indoor Pannier Market.

Your nearest town is St Austell, with a variety of handy shops, and don't forget Par Market, a large indoor market.

A good wet weather activity is a visit to St Austell brewery for a tour and sampling session.  It's worth hiring a taxi for this!

GARDENS

If you are a keen gardener you might like to visit The Lost Gardens of Heligan, The Eden Project (which is a 15 minutes stroll up our bridleway), The Pinetum, Trewithen Gardens, Lanhydrock (National Trust), or pop up to the Duchy of Cornwall Nursery at Lostwithiel and enjoy a coffee whilst admiring the views. Or you could combine a visit to Caerhayes Castle with a trip to Porthluny Beach.

FOR CHILDREN

Days out for children which are nearer to us include Lappa Valley Railway, the Screech Owl Sanctuary, Newquay Aquarium, Newquay Zoo, Kidzworld at Par Market, and Cornwall Services at Roche, which has a climbing wall and softplay area.  Pentewan Sands campsite has a swimming pool and softplay area which are open to the public at certain times of the year.  Bigger kids might like to surf the Flowrider at Retallack Resort while parents enjoy watching from the restaurant.
